Partnerships

Part of our work is ensuring the work done by others is supported, encouraged and profitable. We take this responsibility seriously, and hope that all our Members and the members of the Cashiers area community at large succeed in their work and enjoy a quality life in our mountain communities. The Chamber has developed and/or supports a number of community projects and continues to look for partnership opportunities to advocate for area business, provide information for the community and serve as a conduit for building destination awareness and responsible growth.

Cashiers Area Chamber Visitor Center

The Cashiers Area Chamber of Commerce proudly operates the Visitor Center in Cashiers under contract with the Jackson County Tourism & Development Authority (JCTDA). Our Executive Director serves as an ex-officio member of the JCTDA board, collaborating closely with its leadership on destination branding and tourism management initiatives that support sustainable growth.

As tourism remains the area’s leading industry, the Chamber is dedicated to promoting the Cashiers Area destination brand, fostering business development, and preserving the village charm that makes our mountain communities a premier leisure destination.

Jackson County has been selected to participate in the Our State, Our Home program, and the Cashiers Area Chamber is proud to serve as part of the county’s stakeholder group for this important initiative.

Our State, Our Home is an 18-month program developed by the NC Impact Initiative to improve the availability and accessibility of affordable housing across North Carolina. Supporting this effort is the Development Finance Initiative (DFI), housed within the UNC School of Government, which partners with local governments to attract private investment for affordable housing development. DFI has already worked with Jackson County on a Phase 1 housing assessment, laying the groundwork for this initiative.

The Core Team leading the project includes:

  • Michael Poston, Jackson County Planning Director
  • Tiffany Henry, Jackson County Economic Development Director
  • Patsy Davis, Executive Director of Mountain Projects
  • LeNay Shular, Housing Project Manager, Southwestern Commission
These team members will represent Jackson County at program-wide meetings in Chapel Hill, while the Cashiers Area Chamber will participate in monthly stakeholder meetings to support program goals and help develop a comprehensive affordable housing strategy for Jackson County.

The Chamber is committed to working alongside local leaders, businesses, and community partners to address housing challenges and support sustainable growth for our region.
